Futae no Kiwami, ah! (argot: KYM) is a Japanese internet subculture based on the 1996 Rurouni Kenshin anime.

Overview

It all started with the video "Rurouni Kenshin English version" posted on April 2, 2007. The English dubbing of the characters in the hit anime "Rurouni Kenshin" was so different from the Japanese version, and the forced pronunciation of proper nouns in the anime, that it was extremely uncomfortable and shocked the viewers.

On September 4, 2007, a video called "Validation of 'Futae no Kiwami, ah' in various countries" was posted in which the same scene is dubbed in English, Spanish, Portuguese, South American Portuguese, and Japanese versions of Rurouni Kenshin.

Simultaneous Deletion

However, from the end of March to the beginning of April 2008, an unidentified person or group claiming to be the "rights holder" deleted Validation videos and MAD videos en masse, and many Kiwami videos disappeared from Nico Nico Douga.

This mass deletion led to a sharp decline in the total number of videos and postings of Futae no Kiwami MADs, and the great boom in the popularity of MADs ended. Today, many Nico Douga users do not know about the time when Futae no Kiwami neta was popular from 2007 to 2008, and this story is becoming a thing for old users who are nostalgic for those days.

Incidentally, the person responsible for deleting the video from the rights holder is "Fuji Television Network, Inc.".

(Still Futae no Kiwami is) not over yet!

After the simultaneous deletion of all videos by the rights holders, under the theory that "as long as the Fuji TV images are not used as is, it's okay," videos of Futae no Kiwami, including the masterpieces from the boom period, were either mosaic censored or uploaded as hand-drawn MADs.

In addition, Futae no Kiwami, ah! related videos are tagged with "KYM" to avoid direct expression.

Since none of the hand-drawn MADs survived without being erased, the theory and hope that Futae no Kiwami videos would not be deleted as long as they were composed entirely of hand-drawn reproductions of images is the basis for the mysterious efforts of many hand-drawing artisans, which have led to Validation videos and reproductions of famous scenes. The videos and reproductions of famous scenes have been progressing.

Today, almost all of the newly posted Futae no Kiwami MAD videos are composed of hand-drawn reproductions by volunteer hand-drawing artisans.
