Hey there! This is the first time I've ever used the talk page here before.

After almost a year working on the wiki and on the forums, I can think of at least two problems off the top of my head that should be fixed as soon as possible (within reason):

1. Our medley navigation box needs an extreme rehaul.

Currently, the MedleyNavBox is painfully out of date; however, we can't just add every single medley that's currently on the main page into the box as is - it would be far too large, and nearly impossible to locate a certain medley without using computer shortcuts. I know from researching that Seritaniji tried to group the medleys similarly to the main page back in 2010 or so, but it was crazy-looking then, and will be even more insane now that there's so many medleys.

So, I'm thinking that we should try to group the medleys in a different way. My idea is that we construct a main navigation box for arrangers themselves, and then have multiple medley navigation boxes on each medley for different situations. In other words, lots of categorization.

For example, if we were looking at Konton Jiyuusou, we could have two navigation boxes: one for the arrangers, and one for listing only medleys done by FLAG. Another good example would be The Medley of Kirby SSDX, where multiple navigation boxes could be used: one for the arrangers, one for medleys by hapi, a third box for Kirby-oriented medleys (maybe not songs, though - that would be too much work!) and possibly a fourth box since it's technically a theme medley.

2. We just need more people doing useful stuff!

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I'm fairly certain that xXtouhoumarioXx and I are the only ones who are actually contributing anything to the wiki these days, no offense. There is still so much more work to do just in terms of creating and editing medley pages, never mind figuring out lyrics for medleys, song pages and all this other categorizing stuff I've mentioned. We need more help!

Now that I've said all that, what do you guys think? Nnd8793 19:35, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Well, we've got a bunch of NavBoxes for individual arrangers now - maybe now's a good time to try integrating them into the pages!

Here's what I think the new MedleyNavBox could look like:

Search for Medleys...
By Composer Shimo • Onitan • 8:51:22 pm • Noma • Mahi • M.Iz • FLAG • etc.
By Year 2007 • 2008 • 2009 • 2010 • 2011 • 2012 • 2013 • 2014

All the entries here would lead to different categories, as shown with some of the links that I've already created.

This box would be used in tandem with the NavBoxes for particular arrangers/years that have been created so far.

We could also include particular themes for people who are specifically looking for Touhou or Kirby medleys, for example. What do you think?

I think the NavBox looks pretty good! But the thing is, how would we fit the collaboration medleys in there? Do they get their own NavBox or their own category?

CrazyGamer339 15:42, 3 August 2014 (PDT)

Good question. Collab medleys should have their own category at least - not sure about the NavBox yet. They would definitely get mentioned in this new MedleyNavBox, though.

We should probably do something similar for medleys from festivals. I don't know what we should do with the Miscellaneous section on the main page yet, hadn't thought about that. Hopefully those can be at least categorized by year when they're created.

So I guess this new MedleyNavBox will have at least three sections:

1. By Composer (Collabs would likely go in here) 2. By Year (Festivals could go here... maybe) 3. By Theme (Touhou, Kirby, etc.)

Newer version of the MedleyNavBox:

Search for Medleys...
By Composer Shimo • Onitan • 8:51:22 pm • Noma • Mahi • M.Iz • FLAG • Collabs • etc.
By Year 20072008200920102011201220132014
By Theme Festivals • Music video games • Touhou ProjectVocaloidKirbyiDOLM@STER • etc.

In this case, "Music video games" will cover Beatmania songs, jubeat songs, etc.

Obviously the composers/themes sections will be expanded, but other than that, do you guys think it'll be OK to implement it, or should we make more adjustments to it?

It looks good to me! Now all we need to do is find out how to order the arrangers; should we go by popularity, chronological order (by first published medley), or in alphabetical order?

CrazyGamer339 22:17, 5 August 2014 (PDT)

I was thinking alphabetical order. It would probably be pretty hard to try to determine popularity by any means, and although we are technically sorting medleys by year, I think chronological order would also be difficult.

Well, I've got a long list of arrangers taken from the main page, so I'll arrange those and think of some more themes that could work. I'll set up the MedleyNavBox tomorrow! From there, we'll need to create any theme pages and/or category pages and/or NavBoxes that we may be missing. Great job on the categorization, CrazyGamer339 and xXtouhoumarioXx! I really appreciate the support.
